Bright skies and sunshine heralded Kreyolfest 2009, the Haitian music festival sponsored by the Haitian Times newspaper, which takes place in Brooklyn like clockwork every year. Since several past editions of the festival were marred by torential downpours, a brief, barely noticeable, late-afternoon drizzle did nothing to dampen the moods of the thousands of Haitians who had gathered to see their favorite bands perform.

Michael Jackson has died at age 50 after being rushed to UCLA Medical Center. Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his home and CPR was performed.
